Hi there! Thanks so much for your interest in entering this raffle! If you’d like to enter to win one of these ear rings, handmade by me + customized to your size, keep on reading!
What happens to the money? 100% of the money collected through this contest will be donated to Southern Fried Queer Pride (SFQP), an Atlanta-based Black-led non-profit organization that focuses on “empowering Black queer and QTPOC centered communities in the South through the arts”. From their website mission: “Black and brown queer folks are often the drivers of culture, but often lack the autonomy and resources needed to support themselves and their communities. Our mission to uplift them, give them the platforms they need, and help create an environment and culture that sustains them.” SFQP is currently in the process of raising funds to to establish a Black queer & trans owned community center which will “serve as a community arts center and venue space for artists, musicians, and creators as well as a dedicated space to host workshops and facilitate movement building”. How much is the entry fee? $5
How do I enter? You can enter by donating $5 to the Venmo button below and including an ear emoji plus your email address in the memo so I can contact you if you win. (If the button doesn’t work or you’re viewing this page on a desktop, search @lizzie_darden on the Venmo app). I’m choosing this method because I want the contest to be as transparent as possible and Venmo displays all payments publicly. If you’d prefer to enter privately or if you don’t have Venmo, you can donate the $5 via the Squarespace collection link instead. (Please note that Squarespace collects a transaction fee of 3% of the money donated this way, so I’d love if you used Venmo, so long as you’re comfortable with it, so the maximum amount can be donated!)
When will the winners be chosen? The contest will officially close Saturday, September 12 at midnight and I will select two winners at random (one per ear ring) and contact them the following Sunday, Sept 13. If you’re the winner I’ll also be asking you your preferred ring size so I can customize the ring for you! (Since I have to order the ring blanks based on size, it will be a hot minute before I can ship out the rings, but I’ll keep you updated throughout!)
What are the rings made of? The ear rings are sculpted out of polymer clay and finished with an imitation gold leaf (copper and zinc alloy) that looks like metal! The ring band is gold-plated (unless the winner has a metal allergy!)
